So, you’re sat there, asking yourself ‘which CRM is best for me?‘ What a great question! Throughout this article, I’m planning on answering that question, or at the very least, point you in the right direction. So, let’s get started, with a few questions of my own.
Why Do You Want CRM?
So, the first way to answer your question, is with another question – why do you want a CRM? Before you can decide on a CRM you need clear goals in place.
Are you looking to replace the growing library of spreadsheets that you are currently tracking contacts with? Do you want a system that can send marketing campaigns? Or maybe you want something that can automate all your repetitive tasks so that you can focus on growing your business?
You might be in a very niche industry and have a specific way of running your business. There are systems out there that have been built from the ground up for specific industries and systems that have been designed with flexibility in mind. This means that you can tweak and customise your CRM system to better suit your needs.
Whatever your reason for wanting a new CRM system, asking ‘why do I want a CRM system?’ will be key on this journey.
How Much Are You Willing to Spend?
This is a tricky question to answer you will want the best possible product for the least possible spend. Unfortunately, with any software (not just CRM), you get what you pay for.
That’s not to say a free CRM won’t work for you, but they are designed in a way to give you the basic features required to get running, but if you want any of the game-changing features, you will have to pay for them.
So, let’s assume you have a budget in mind, there is a huge range of CRM software out there for a variety of price points. If all you’re looking for is a system that will manage your contacts, appointments, and tasks, then you shouldn’t have to spend an arm and a leg for a great system.
If, however, you want all the bells and whistles, automation, integrations, machine learning, etc. then you are going to have to pay for it. Implement it properly and you will reap the benefits of a system like this, but make sure you are getting everything that you can out of the system.
Are You Prepared?
I’m using the collective ‘you’ here. A CRM is only as good as the data inside it. For your CRM to work, everyone in your business needs to be using it. This can require a cultural change, which isn’t an easy task. We’ve been doing this for a long time and have seen it happen, make sure the whole business is behind this change.
